The Court’s President Highlights the Space as a Forum for Dialogue and Emphasizes the Role of the Press in Democracy
The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Justice Kassio Nunes Marques, inaugurated the 2026 Election Information Center (CDE) on Monday (17). Located on the 3rd floor of the Court’s headquarters in Brasília (DF), the space was designed to serve media professionals covering this October’s general elections. The CDE will initially operate Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“The idea is for it to be more than just a workspace for the professionals who will be covering the elections. The goal is for it to become a space for open dialogue with the Electoral Court, where transparency and access to information face no obstacles,” stated the TSE president.
The minister stressed that the work of journalists is essential to ensuring that society has access to accurate and contextualized information about the electoral process. “A free and engaged press is synonymous with democracy,” he emphasized. According to Kassio Nunes Marques, more than 1,000 media professionals are expected to visit the Information Center by early November.
Expanded Facilities
The space allocated for the CDE 2026 is larger than that set aside in previous editions. Covering approximately 680 square meters, the Center features internet access, 90 workstations, and 122 seats distributed across nine work areas. The facility also includes an area reserved for television crews, a mini-auditorium, a large screen for displaying election results, restrooms, and a break room. The venue also features a space operated by the TSE’s Secretariat of Communication and Multimedia (Secom) to assist journalists.
In addition to the area located on the 3rd floor, the CDE will also occupy the ground floor of the Court. On election days, the Information Center will be expanded to include the ground floor and the pilotis, featuring a multipurpose space designed to accommodate media professionals and a large auditorium for announcing the election results.
“The Electoral Court has an ally in the press, as it shares with the press a passion for democracy and quality information. May the CDE be the press’s home over the coming months,” concluded the TSE president.
